Start Your Engines

Did anyone else have a hard time trying to decide what to blog about when they first started here?

It makes sense for a blog to have a title that reflects what the blog is about, yes? I stared at the sign in screen for a while, wondering if I should think of a title to reflect writing, animals, food, books, superheroes, fantasy, technology, video games, music, art… There were a plethora of ideas running through my mind, and I had run out of rope to tether any of them down.

Speaking of ideas and thoughts, I have so many random ones that it is very simple for me to go off on tangents and detours like a dog going after a squirrel or hearing a squeak toy. I’m usually able to get myself back on track (especially with the help of a cookie), but sometimes the detours are so much more fun than walking down a straight road. I daydream and fantasize a lot, loving the idea of being a superhero or communicating with my computer (like Tony Stark and Jarvis; anyone else see the Avengers or enjoy the Iron Man movies?) and animals. I love my job and am a bit of a workaholic; thankfully my job is not one where I have to sit still too much. Running around and playing with dogs in a Doggie Day Camp certainly gives me my exercise, and I love having that many four-legged friends. I enjoy drawing on real-life inspirations for my writing, and I have a couple of novels in the works with the help of my two imaginary muses whom I affectionately call D.L. and Tech. Both of them have been guilty on more than one occasion for distracting me with more story ideas when I’m trying to work on one.

With all those possibilities, it was difficult to pin down a title and idea as to what the blog should be about. Eventually, I settled on calling the blog “Sugar Wolf,” a title that still reflects the main topic of the blog. I guess what I’m trying to say is:

Hi everyone! This is me. 🙂

Completely. I tried and failed at blogging three times before finally coming to something that is really working well for me. It does take a bit of experimentation, but that’s just a fun part of the process – to find something you’re really passionate about that you can keep posting about.

Thanks for sharing and hope this works out for you, it’s a lot of fun 🙂
