Ready for Camp?

22 May

Anyone out there do NaNoWriMo? You know, the National Novel Writing Month that is set in November where people take the challenge of writing 50,000 words of a story?

If you do know, then perhaps you also know of Camp NaNoWriMo? My sister has a countdown on her blog Spilled Ink for the June session of camp (the second session is in August), and I just realized that it starts in 10 days. May is OVER in 10 days, guys! Summer’s almost here! Time to break out the air conditioners!

Anyways, back to NaNo… I have been participating in NaNo for probably about three years now, I think, and I had discovered the camp version last August. I have not “won” ANY of the NaNos that I have participated in. Ever. I would always end up distracted or sick or work would be extremely busy, and I could probably think of more excuses, but I’ll spare you.

In all honesty, I’m usually proud of myself if I get about 10,000 words, if not more. I “cheat” by not starting a new story for NaNo and, instead, add words to already existing stories, but I do not count the words that I have written prior to the month of the challenge.

I’ll probably attempt the camp again this summer. Let’s see how many words I can add to my stories!

On a side note, can you tell I discovered how to create links from the first couple of paragraphs? I’m learning! 🙂
