Time’s Ticking

17 Sep

Wow, it’s been a while, huh?

I originally started this blog to focus on writing and perhaps to add little fun stories from my work. It was to be another activity that I could do with my sister (who is so much better at updated her blog Spilled Ink than I am with this), but I obviously dwindled out of the blogging world.

Like my blogging, my writing has also been dissipating lately. I have a few novels in the works, but many of them haven’t been touched in weeks. To keep my writing habit up, I generally write little one-shots in some of my notebooks, but I’ve been failing to do even that. Fairly recently I was talking to my sister about writing at least three pages a day; she’d doing it while I play a new video game.

I know not everyone writes at the same pace. I’m obviously a more sporadic writer. I can write for hours a day if I get just the right momentum and I generally can finish an entire chapter in a day with the time. After that chapter, though, it takes another week or month before I go to the next chapter. I wonder if there are any surefire ways to keep motivated when it comes to writing for the random writers like me.

I like how both of our blogs always say, “I’m not keeping up with my writing…”

Anyway, I’m looking at it by writing 360 pages by the end of the year (because that’s just how it worked out when we started) so I’m not even doing the three pages a day. I can’t imagine how behind I would be with that…
