Inspired by a lovely prompt challenge found on the lovely blog Doodle Rainbow, this 10-minute prompt is entitled “Journeys” and features a couple of new characters who are just beginning to make themselves known to me.
Leto had never seen so much green. Her island had trees, some bushes, and Mrs. Mangdon’s flower garden, but the sky’s blue had always overwhelmed the island’s greenery.
“Is this all yours?” she asked. “These plants look so well cared for. How do you do it?”
Elliot scoffed. “I don’t,” he said, walking down a path between overgrown thickets. “This is all wild.”
Leto scrambled to keep up with the young man. “Wild? Wow… Is it wild like this everywhere?”
“No,” was the curt response.
Leto continued to follow, especially since Elliot hadn’t told her to get lost. Not yet, anyway.
“Where are we going?” she asked. “On a journey? Oh, how I’d love to go on a journey, like the heroes and maidens in books. To go to new places, meet new people, strange creatures… Have you been on many journeys?”
He glanced at her with a crooked smile. “Only if you count life as one.”
