Losing a Friend

Some of you may or may not know that a little while ago I had started a second blog for stories revolving around dogs and animals in general. This is the reason why I did not post/write yesterday. I’m still reeling a bit from these events, but writing definitely helps.

Mini Pawprints

A dog who was staying at my work, a doggie day camp and pets hotel facility, passed away yesterday.

My boss called me as I was sitting down getting ready to write my daily 500 words. Her words were broken, static-y, trying to figure out what went wrong as she asked me if I had noticed anything different about the dog that day. I had opened that morning, and nothing had tipped me off that the pooch could have been hurting. True, the dog was a little older, but had seemed active enough to never suggest that anything was wrong. I had passed him by a few times during my shift, but I had never taken a closer look. I had seen enough to know that he had water, that his room was clean, and that he seemed comfortable on his little bed.

After the call and throughout the night, I kept thinking,
