Reading Challenge Continued

11 Mar

Yesterday I posted that long list of a reading challenge that I had happened to find while scrolling through Pinterest. I had glanced at it before, but now I’m seriously considering everything on the list. I’ve come to the surprising conclusion that I’m able to complete most, if not all, of the list with books that I already own.

A book you own but haven’t read: Um, have you seen my bookshelves? Scratch that, have you seen my desk? I swear, I have three piles on or around my desk of books that I have yet to read. I’ll read them, I swear!

A book that was made into a movie: Harry Potter, anyone? The Hobbit? Fellowship of the Ring? This section is checked.

A book you pick solely because of the cover: Pretty sure on my February book haul post I mentioned the book Earnest and this past Wednesday I reviewed The Boy Next Door, both books that have dogs on the covers. I had listed the dogs as the reason as to why I picked up the books!

A book your friend loves: I was introduced to the Night Circus, one of my all-time favorite books, by a good friend years ago, and I also have plenty of recommendations from fellow coworkers at my bookstore.

A book published this year: I don’t believe I have this section checked off yet, but it’s still early March. I have plenty of time this year to find a good book to add to my shelves!

A book by an author you’ve never read before: I’m currently doing that right now!

A book by an author you love: Oh, I have plenty of contenders for this section as well. It shall be checked off soon!

A book at the bottom of you’re “to-read” pile: My TBR list is in no particular order, sooo… can I count this as checked since I’m always working on whittling down my TBR list?

A book with a color in the title: I don’t believe I’ve read any yet (unless Dr. Seuss books count), but I did recently pick up Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

A book set somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit: … Does Middle Earth or Hogwarts count?

A book you started but never finished: I’ve been in the middle of The Two Towers for months now, unfortunately… Other than that, I almost always finish the books I start unless I truly dislike the story/characters/writing style. Of the few books I could not stand to finish, I donated so maybe they can be picked up by someone who will enjoy them.

A book with a lion, a witch, or a wardrobe: Haha, well, I have read “A Lion, A Witch, and a Wardrobe,” before so I think I deserve triple checks for this! More recently, I can stick Harry Potter on this section again for the witches in those books!

A book with a female heroine: Done. I’ve read plenty of those!

A book set in the summer: Also done, although I wasn’t too thrilled with the book.

A book of poems: … Damn. Not sure about this one. Shel Silverstein, maybe?

A book you learned about because of this challenge: Considering that I found this challenge on my own, this may not apply to me… Unless others have recommendations?

A book that will make you smarter: EVERY book makes you smarter!

A book with a blue cover: Have quite a few of those like, The Eye of the Minds, The Christmas Angel, A Dance of Ghosts… Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix…

A book you were supposed to read in school, but didn’t: I’ve been out of school for years, but I don’t believe I skipped any books. I did reread The Secret Life of Bees recently, however, if that counts.

A book “everyone” but you has read: There are actually quite a few popular series that I should probably check out, such as The Maze Runner or The Hunger Games.

A book with a great first line: I’m checking this off as done, considering its all based on personal opinion and I love many first lines.

A book with pictures: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, illustrated edition!

A book from the library: Dear Lord, I need to start checking out books from the library again…

A book you loved… Read it again!: Haha, done it many times!

A book that is more than 10 years old: Harry Potter, again. In fact, the first book will be twenty years old next year!

A book based on a true story: Definitely have this checked off, although I’ve been thinking about The Danish Girl lately…

Of course, challenges like these are always fun with brand new books. I’m always up for recommendations!
