Fantasy Vacation

21 Mar

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

My family doesn’t go too far, in all honesty. Usually we rent a cottage by a lake, but the past couple of years, a few of us were lucky enough to go to Disneyworld once or twice.

Vacations are fantastic. They’re great when you want to catch up on reading, sleep, hang out with family and friends that you haven’t been able to see in a while… While going to Disneyworld or by a lake for a while is wonderful, I wonder sometimes what it would be like to vacation in one of my books’ worlds.

Like Hogwarts, or the wizarding world at least. Let’s all go shopping in Diagon Alley or drink butterbeer in Hogsmeade.

Or how about the gorgeous lands around Rivendell or the Shire in Tolkien’s Middle Earth?

Let me dive into the virtual reality OASIS of Ernest Cline’s “Ready Player One,” or spend weeks exploring every tent in Erin Morganstern’s “The Night Circus.”

Were would you like to go on your fantasy vacation?

Hogwarts and the Shire. I wouldn’t mind getting a peek at Narnia, either.

I might be a little too reality grounded for this. But I’d get on a bus to a quiddich game at hogwarts.

Dinotopia for me. Dinosaurs, picturesque cities, beautiful landscapes and tranquillity – the only downside is the strictly vegetarian menus.
