Any Direction

I still don’t know what I’m doing with my Camp NaNoWriMo project.

Seriously, the first week is over. You’d think by now that I would have some sort of direction. Instead, I have my handful of characters and most of the writing just seems to be paragraphs of description rather than the characters actually doing something.

I’m sure I’ll find the right direction (or, hell, any direction) for these characters before the end of the month. If not, then I’ll at least get to know them better. I’ve had many of these characters bouncing around in my head for years now, with most of them having different incarnations in a couple of other drafts of stories.

Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe I’ve been working with these characters for too long. Or maybe I’m still trying to find the right fit for them.

Although I’ve been consistently hitting my word count goal for my project during this NaNo session, I’ve also been handwriting random things as well. I figure I could count those words at some point down the line if I need a boost (like, maybe on a Thursday, the day that I work late). The random things are considerably different from my camp project.

Maybe I should switch to the random things…

How’s all your writing going?
