Evolved Characters

22 Aug

If you could steal another author’s character and make him/her your own, who would it be?

My first reaction would be to take Fred Weasley from J.K. Rowling to make sure he lived, but there are definitely plenty of other characters around that I would love to play with.

There used to be an old website that allowed its users to create quizzes and, eventually, stories as well for others to take and read. Eons ago I had an account on there and a few good Internet buddies. One such friend and I had traded characters for us to use in our X-Men fanfictions.

Although we lost contact after the site was bought out, his character stayed in my fanfictions, which eventually morphed into an original series that I’ve been working on for years. His character has evolved into my own, granted with my writing. All of the twists, backgrounds, and personality now peppered into his person come from me, and he’s one of my favorite characters to date.

I wonder if my old friend still writes. He had such brilliant plot ideas, and I hope that he has continued on with it. Hopefully my old character has evolved into his own as well!
