Library Haul

01 Sep

I tested out my library card the other day, snagging a book called The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma from the science-fiction section and The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer from the children’s room (hey, why not, right?). The latter I had heard of before, especially from my bookstore stint, but I hadn’t heard of The Map of Time.

The sci-fi book is a first in a trilogy, it seems, and boasts both real and imaginary characters in Victorian times. The main character is an investigator, one who travels through time in order to solve and prevent crimes. It’s definitely a different taste than what I’ve read before, but it had piqued my interest!

Of course, I’m also in the middle of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and I still have a giant shopping bag full of new, unread books. Still, the library trip was nice, allowing me to browse and save a couple of bucks on new stories. Perhaps the deadline of the due date will also prompt me to read more books!

What have you been reading lately?

(Also, it’s totally Rachel’s birthday today! Please go give my sister some extra love!)

I’m currently 3/4 through my re-read of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s a fascinating experience, given how I’ve re-read the rest of the series since the beginning of the year and this one feels very different from the rest of them. Rowling also delivers some of her best writing in this book, even if there are some problems with the plot itself. Besides that, I’m going back and forth between a few different audiobooks depending on my mood.
