So Many Books…

20 Jan

Since I finished Circus Mirandus earlier this week, I’ve been trying to figure out what to read next. While I don’t believe this to be considered a “problem,” I have tons of options on my bookshelf (and my desk, and by my bed, and on the bookshelf in the cellar…).

Should I go for a new series? Should I read the next book in a series? Read a standalone? What genre — fantasy, realistic fiction, slice-of-life, science fiction? Young adult, new adult, middle grade? Do I go for the quicker reads, or sink into a 700+ page book?

Maybe I’ll just pick a title out of a hat…

How do you choose your next book? Do you have a running list of books to read, or do you choose it on a whim?

I tend to just choose on what I fancy reading (or if I have any required reading for uni haha!). Sometimes I like to marathon series though. Perhaps you should just pick all the titles you want to read, number them, and put them into a randomiser machine and read the one which corresponds to the number! Kind of like a TBR jar (which I also have, but seldom use).

You should pick them out of a hat. That’d be interesting.

(No pun intended, that’s an actual question, lol.)

I am purely an emotional chooser. I have stacks everywhere and when I need a new book to read I just see which one waggles it’s spine at me. One always does. If none do, I don’t read for a bit, clearly I need a break. But within a day or two, one will waggle.

Love that the spines waggle for you! ๐Ÿ™‚ That sounds like a great way to figure out which book to read next!
