For the Love of Socks

For Christmas, I had gotten quite a few awesome presents, but I’m coming to realize that one of my favorite gifts was socks.

Yes, that’s right. Socks. You know, the gift you hated getting as a child.

Aside from the obvious warmth factor for your toes, the socks in particular that I’m grateful for are a package of ankle socks adorned with Harry Potter-esque designs.

While Rachel happened to get the package of socks decorated with the House ties and colors, mine had simpler designs and quotes, such as the Deathly Hallows, 9 and 3/4 from the train station, the golden snitch, and my personal favorite, “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.”

They’re a little understated, but they do their job. I tend to wear them to work, where the dress code is business casual. I prefer jeans and sneakers rather than business pants and work flats, but knowing that I have a pair of socks on saying, “Mischief Managed,” seems to help. It may sound silly, but those decorative socks tying in with one of my favorite book series adds a little magic to the day.

My desk job, as great as it is, can be a little dry. That touch of Harry Potter, of my love of imagination and magic and reading, keeps me going.

    I gave all my female friends fun socks with appropriate to them sayings and feet pampering stuff. The pair I kept for myself says screwing up is part of the program. Lol
