Spelling Woes

05 Apr

refrigeratorcapture

When Rachel and I write in different rooms of the house, we tend to go on Skype and bother each other. It’s all in good fun, and works well when we’re both working on blog posts, especially for Double Jump.

A couple of days ago, we were talking while working on our Camp NaNo projects, and Rachel suddenly pings me with that little nugget about the word “refrigerator” and how it always looks wrong. As she had pointed out a few minutes later, refrigerator has the word fridge in it — shouldn’t it also have the letter d?

Later on, I mention how “activities” doesn’t look right, either.

There any words that you find yourself writing or using a lot that eventually look just wrong? No matter how many times you check your spelling and know it’s spelled correctly, but it still seems off?

This one. Gets me every time. Growing up, I always spelled it kernel. Gah! The English language kills me.

there is a kernel though. It’s that thing at the center of the popcorn or the center of a UNIX based operating system. smiles
