2017 Goodreads Challenge

Hey, look, I added the Goodreads Challenge widget to the side bar again!

Last year I had pledged to read 52 books — about one a week — and it didn’t go well. I ready maybe about 20 books, some of them rereads, which isn’t bad but I would have liked to fall in love with more new books.

This year I brought my goal down to 26 books, aiming for at least a book every two weeks. More book reviews on this blog is one of my goals for this year, so I hope you all look forward to it!

If you have any book recommendations, feel free to comment on this post or even on my Reading List!

Goodreads Challenge

You know that little widget on my sidebar? The one that says Goodreads and showcases my 2016 Reading Challenge?

Yeah, the bar isn’t filled too much, is it?

I did much better in the beginning of this year with my reading challenge, and I partly attribute that to working in a bookstore at that time. It was so simple to find new books to read and then read during my break and all. Then I switched jobs, one that had a steady schedule but was a bit more taxing mentally, and I found myself in more reading slumps than I would have liked. I realized that I’m able to change my goal, and I thought of doing so at the last minute, perhaps bring it down to 20 books for 2016 or so, but then I’d feel like I was cheating.

So, perhaps I’ll do better next year! I hope everyone else has had a lovely year of good books!

Cursed Child

Lately I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, starting books and never finishing them, not finding anything to really hold my attention for very long. I haven’t logged into my Goodreads account in a while.

(On that note, nor have I updated my Goodreads Challenge on the side bar. I have definitely read more than two books this year — I swear my reading slump hasn’t been that bad!)

So I picked up Harry Potter again. I’m about halfway through the first book, and with the Cursed Child’s script out now, well…

I wonder if I’ll be able to read through all seven Harry Potter books before reading the Cursed Child, or if I’ll get the script and succumb to the temptation and read it early.

Have any of you devoured the Cursed Child yet? Please no spoilers in the comments, but let me know what you think of it!

Goodreads and Bookshelves

Look at the lovely books.

Look at the lovely books.

I need a bigger bookshelf.

Granted, we have a few in our basement, one of which is also filled with my books, but this is my main shelf in my bedroom. I suppose I’ll have to rotate books soon enough so everyone gets a chance to be upstairs.

On that note, I’ve updated my Goodreads page. I’ve been a member since 2010, according to the site, but I’ve never really done anything with it until fairly recently. It’s a shame, actually, since it is an amazing resource for authors and book lovers alike. It’s fun (and a touch frustrating) finding all the books that I want to add to my read and to-be read shelves!

So many books, so little time.

Feel free to add me on Goodreads if you have one! It’d be marvelous if you could let me know in the comments if you sent me a friend request so I know who you are.
